WAUPUN — The Waupun Rotary Club held their second annual “Beerfest” Saturday afternoon at the Go-Dutch Solutions event center.
Last year the Rotary Club held their first annual Beerfest during their 100th Anniversary celebration at the Waupun City Hall Auditorium.
This year’s Beerfest had 48 beers from 12 different breweries, and was packed with attendees throughout the afternoon. Along with beer, they also had raffle prizes, appetizers, and live music.
“We’ve definitely grown since last year and we’re excited to use the funds raised from this event because we are starting a new project to make renovations at Wilcox Park,” said Kate Burke, president of the Waupun Rotary Club.
Several of the Waupun area parks have been in disrepair due to the high costs of maintenance and materials, and much of the City’s budget being necessary for other, more pressing projects.
“There’s quite a list there and we asked the city which parks need some love, and they said Wilcox needs it most,” she said. “So we want to raise these funds and with raising more funds we’re able to get matching grants from Rotary International and Rotary District to help us get those things done.”
Along with the Wilcox Park Revitalization Project, funds will also go to providing Community Table meals, as well as offering college scholarships for high school students at WASD and CWC.
The event was notably attended by Mayor of Waupun Rohn Bishop, State Senator Joan Ballweg, and County Supervisor Jon Venhuizen.
Waupun will host another beer-themed event next month on October 6th with the “Hops & Shops” Beer Walk, a downtown business walk event similar to the annual Wine Walk held in May.
