My name is Jaedon Buchholz, I’m a born-and-raised native of Waupun and graduated from Waupun high School in the class of 2019. I worked at the Waupun Public Library for three years and have been involved with the Waupun Historical Society due to my interest in local history.
I had always been bothered by the lack of a local newspaper ever since the Waupun Leader News shut down in the 1990s and wished Waupun had a single source to present all local news. I decided that someone had to do it so I created the Waupun Pioneer in January 2022 as a Facebook page, and now as online newspaper.
The Waupun Pioneer News will strive to be a direct and honest source of local news. Trust in news media has declined rapidly over the last few years due to various reasons, the most important I believe is the lack of a fair and balanced presentation of information. While I do aim for balanced reporting, I have my own views just as much as everyone else and am certainly not immune to bias. But I hold myself to the same standards I hold anyone else in honesty and trust.
I hope to accomplish great things with the Waupun Pioneer. My most important mission is providing an important service and giving back to the community that I love.
Thank you,
Jaedon Buchholz
