WAUPUN — The Clothing Pallet celebrates 5 years in Waupun next week with a store-wide sale from January 10th to the 13th.

The Clothing Pallet is a clothing and home goods overstock store started by sisters Andrea Oosterhouse and Maria Ruissen 5 years ago, opening at 18 N. Madison Street. The store held their official grand opening on November 29th, 2018.

“We felt Waupun needed more options for clothing and home goods,” Andrea said. “There just really weren’t that many options five years ago, and we wanted it to be an affordable store so anyone can shop here.”

When the shop opened it had a wide variety of items including furniture, homegoods, and clothing. They adjusted their stock over the years and now predominantly sell clothes and shoes, as well as a small selection of home stuff like bedding and blankets.

Most of their inventory is overstock from big box stores, and includes brands like Banana Republic, Levis, and Kirkland. Much of their stock changes throughout the year but they offer high quality items at an affordable price compared to larger stores.

“When we purchased and first came to this building, we knew that Madison Street was going to be closed for construction,” Andrea said. “They closed down that entire street; our sidewalk was gone, everything was gone and it was kind of a mess.”

Among the renovations were the addition of back rooms, a men’s section, new flooring, and a complete repaint of the facility. In 2020 they decided to paint the whole exterior of the building, which is now a solid white.

“We’ve done a lot, but we kind of took it year by year,” she said. “It’s been a lot so over the five years it was like every year was something, but hopefully we’re done with renovations now.”

In recognition of their 5th year in business they will be holding a week-long sale from January 10th to the 13th, with everything in the store 25% off that week.

“It’ll be a big sale for us because everything is discounted to start with, you know?” Andrea said. “It’s a good time and a good way to give back to our customers to show we appreciate them.”

The Clothing Pallet will also be hosting The Mustard Seed Makery for a permanent jewelry pop up and new Respalje Design items on Saturday from 9-11AM, plus complimentary snacks.
