Dear Editor:

My name is David Calderwood, MD and I have been employed as an Emergency Room physician for the last 5 years at Waupun Memorial Hospital.

I want to express my gratitude to the City of Waupun for this opportunity to have served it. The experience has been very human, real and educational. I am leaving a better man for having served Waupun. There are a lot of amazing people in this city. I have been part of your personal tragedies, triumphs, joys and sorrows. I have prayed with you, cried with you and laughed with you. I just want to say thank you for letting me be part of your lives.

As mentioned, I am leaving to serve a church mission to the people of Paraguay for three years. I will now have the chance to serve internationally. I hope they will receive me with the same kindness as you have in Waupun.

Best wishes,
David A. Calderwood, MD

PS—Shout out to the following business for their professionality and service:

Baymont Inn—Rich Patel and staff are awesome.
The Other Bar—For service with a smile (even when I was tired and hungry).
The Wild Goose—Best poached eggs ever.
Golz Apple Orchard—for information on apple trees and helping me learn.

Again, thank you all. I live in Kenosha and commute to work (not every day, I do shift work), and it’s been worth the commute. You made me a home away from home.
