WAUPUN — Central Wisconsin Christian held a ribbon cutting ceremony Monday night to officially open the newly constructed expansion, just in time for the beginning of the school year.

The expansion included new elementary and high school classrooms, as well as a state-of-the-art Agriculture Technology lab.

The completed expansion is part of the larger Diamond Legacy Vision Expansion Project, which was approved at an annual all-member meeting back in April 2022 and includes new developments for new classrooms, labs, expanded sports complex, and a worship center.

Prior to the ribbon cutting ceremony they heard from a number of speeches, a full recording of which can be found on the official CWC Facebook page. The second phase of the expansion was completed exactly one year after their groundbreaking ceremony on August 22, 2022

“It’s humbling for us to reach this point of the project in 365 days, from breaking ground to finishing a project the size of this,” said CWC Director of Advancement Greg Zonnefeld.

Zonnefeld commended WDS Construction for their hard work on the project, and for everything they do for CWC.

“We had such a great relationship with our contractor, with our architect, and with our team,” Zonnefeld said. “As we said tonight, it’s the Lord guiding the steps and us following where he leads us. Just to be here on time and on budget is just a testament to that, and the financial support of our school family has been incredible, and we look forward to getting to the next two phases of this project.”

The budget for the expansion to date was $11 million, with the remaining phases totaling another $6 to $7 million, plus interest.

The entire project was devised to meet the recent influx of new students enrolling in CWC. According to Zonnefeld, they have 90 newly enrolled students coming to CWC out of a total 530 for the 2023-24 school year.

“It’s really for the kids, that’s really what it’s all about,” Zonnefeld said. “It’s the way we can impact Christ-centered learning for the kids, with hands-on-education in the Ag-Tech lab and the whole totality of this expansion.”

CWC holds classes for grades Pre-K through 12th.

Last April, CWC held a 75th Anniversary Banquet and gave tours of the campus, including the new additions which were still under construction at the time.

CWC plans to hold another open house in the near future to show off the new expansions for current student families and prospective students.
