Mayor’s Column April 8th, 2023
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun and Happy Easter!

It’s finally warming up enough that park bathrooms are opening up for the season. The bathrooms automatically lock at 10 pm and unlock at 7 am.  The police department does keep an eye on them, however we seem to have vandalism issues every spring. Waupun is fortunate to be a community with several nice parks, and as a community we have to work together to keep our parks great. If you see suspicious activity like a propped open door, or people loitering around the shelter please call the police.  It’s a shame that the behavior of a few hooligans can destroy something so nice for the vast majority; hopefully by working together we can prevent the vandalism.

Speaking of the parks, I’m really excited for this year’s parks program! After returning last year after a few years hiatus, the park program proved to be popular, and this year is even better with programs at Dodge, West End, and Pine Street Parks. It all kicks off with a Summer Kickoff party on Thursday June 8 at 5 pm at West End Park. For more information check cityofwaupun.org or the Waupun Recreation Department on Facebook!

If you live in the northwest corner of the city, you’re seeing holes and mud puddles left behind as the snow melts. These are left from the Bug Tussle fiber-optic cables that were buried over the winter.  I have been assured Bug Tussle hasn’t forgotten about us, and as the weather improves, they will be filling in the holes and over seeding the laws.

Finally, I hope you all have a blessed Easter.

Thank you and God Bless,
Mayor Rohn
