Mayor’s Column March 11th, 2023
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun!

Another Thursday, another snowstorm! Anyway,  a quick reminder that this weekend we shift the clocks ahead an hour, which is a sign that spring is right around the corner!

I also want to take a moment to congratulate our local area winter athletes who have made it to the state tournaments. In gymnastics, Waupun’s Abby Roecker for her amazing state appearance this past weekend, and our girls’ basketball team who made a repeat trip to Green Bay to defend the state Division 3 title, and while they came up short, we are all very proud of our young ladies and the way they represent Waupun!

Now that a budget has been proposed and the legislature is debating it, I’m happy to announce that I’ll be hosting a Waupun Budget Listening Session with Senator Feyen and Representative Schraa on March 30 at 5:00 at the city hall council chambers. This gives us a chance to show the budget struggles Waupun is having, and that we’re not making them up.  I encourage you to attend, to be polite, but to help advocate for Waupun!

Finally, I was sadden to hear about the passing of Mark Bartow. Mr. Bartow was a long time co-worker, neighbor and friend.  One time he was walking by and saw me working on Reagan’s bike, he stopped and started grabbing tools, and in no time Reagan was back on and riding! Another time, When I was running for office, he stopped by my house to let me know I was the first Republican he’d ever voted for!  I’ll never forget that, and he will be missed.

Thank you and God Bless!
Mayor Rohn
