Mayor’s Column April 24, 2022
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hi everybody!  First, let me say what an honor and a privilege it is to be our new mayor! Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Waupun, and I’m super excited to serve as our next mayor.  Second, I’d like to thank former Mayor Julie Nickel for her many years of dedicated service to Waupun, and for her leadership through a natural disaster and a global pandemic.

My campaign slogan was “preserving our past. preparing for our future.” For me, that’s not just a slogan, it’s my priority. We must preserve our past by investing in what has made Waupun such a unique little city, while tackling the challenges as we move forward.

I look forward to working with our city staff as we expand opportunities for quality child care, build a new senior center, connect Shaler Drive, expand our business park and increase our recreational opportunities.

I also look forward to preserving our past; by reclaiming the “City of Sculpture” branding. Look to see our city flag flying at city buildings, for the End of the Trail logo to reappear on city documents, and for a public/private partnership to raise funds to help repair and maintain Waupun’s historical sites, especially those located in our beautiful Forrest Mound Cemetery.

Waupun is a great little city with wonderful people, great schools, dedicated clergy, and natural beauty. We are the seventh safest city in Wisconsin, have the best drinking water around, a state-of-the-art wastewater plant, and a rich history!

Stay tuned for Mayor’s office hours and a few “Rapping with Rohn” listing sessions at local coffee houses.

Thank you for this opportunity and God bless,
Mayor Rohn
