WAUPUN — Last week Zac Dickhut resigned from his seat on the Waupun Police & Fire Commission to focus on completing his Masters Degree at UW Milwaukee.

“After having served two years on the commission, my current obligations to a masters program as well as employment now make my attendance at meetings sparse at best, which can directly hinder the ability for the commission to operate,” Dickhut said in his resignation email.

Dickhut is also the President of the Waupun Historical Society and the Executive Director of the Waupun Chamber of Commerce.

“The work of the Commission is critical for our community, and I would hope my replacement will be one who understands the broader implications that our decisions can have on Waupun. This group was a fantastic one to work with, in large part due to the leadership of Mike Thurmer, which is invaluable to Waupun,” Dickhut stated in his email.

Mayor Rohn Bishop will be working with Commission President Mike Thurmer to fill the vacancy at the May 10th Common Council Meeting. People wishing to apply for the vacancy on the FPC should email mayor@cityofwaupun.org.
