WAUPUN — The railroad crossing on Main St is in desperate need of repair. The City has scheduled a resolution for the next Meeting of the Common Council to demand Wisconsin and Southern Railroad repair or replace the aging rail crossing, which has had no meaningful maintenance for more than five years despite the damaged state. Photographs were provided in the agenda packet for the meeting.
In his recommendation to the Common Council, Director of Public Works Jeff Daane stated, “[Wisconsin and Southern Railroad] have done some very minor repairs in the past, but nothing that has repaired the area making it safe for traffic, bicycles and pedestrians.”
The Waupun City Council will meet Tuesday the 12th in their biweekly Common Council meeting to discuss the state of the railroad as well as other pressing issues to the City.
