WAUPUN — The Waupun Police Department released a statement on Facebook Wednesday about the ongoing issue of city park vandalism. The post described several reports that the WPD have received about damage to park amenities, including graffiti and damaged property. The worst of the vandalism occurs in the shelter bathrooms, where there is no way to monitor or prevent damage to the interior of the building.

While the Waupun Department of Public Works has been working hard at repairing the damage to city parks, it is an avoidable nuisance where Public Works resources could be better spent elsewhere.

“We need your help to keep our parks open and safe for everyone,” the WPD said in its post, urging citizens to report any suspicious behavior at the city parks.
