FOX LAKE — Downtown Fox Lake was the place to be during the “Fox Trot Red, White, and Brews” Wine Walk held Friday evening.
Sisters Sonja Quade Schmit and Jenny Quirk organize the annual wine walk from Quade Real Estate, located at 214 W. State St. in Fox Lake. The “Fox Trot” wine walks have been going on for about five years.
“We love inviting people to our community,” they said. “To actually get to come into our businesses and meet and greet our local business owners as well as share our products, our services, our goods, and also entertainment.”
New this year was a 50/50 raffle with the proceeds going to the local fireworks show.
The event was sponsored by the Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce, who held their own booth in front of their office.
“It’s an amazing community event because it brings all the businesses together and all the townspeople together and it’s this amazing way to get to meet everybody,” said Fox Lake Chamber of Commerce president Vicki Matheys.
Between 130 and 150 total Wine Walk tickets were sold with 13 businesses participating with a wine booth. Several other downtown businesses were open for the event, including the art studio of Arthur Thurmer at 300 W. State St. whose paintings were on display in the Waupun Public Library earlier this year.
One of the notable businesses that participated in the Wine Walk was Fox Lake Lounge, a new business that opened in the three-story building at 213 W. State Street formerly known as Yellow Rose. They originally purchased the building on March 7 and have been making renovations since with plans to open a wine bar this fall.
Discover Downtown Waupun will be hosting their second annual “Hops & Shops” Beer and Cider Walk this September 27.
