WAUPUN — Waupun was full to the brim with Christmas cheer this week with the various events going on throughout town. Thursday in particular gave no lack of things to do, with several events going on at the same time. The two biggest events were the My Property Shoppe Trolley Rides and the Go-Dutch Solutions Winter Market.
The Waupun Winter Market is an indoor flea market style event held once a month during the winter. This year’s market had countless baked goods, Christmas themed gifts and decorations, local business stands, a pasta dinner, and live music. The next Winter Markets will take place on January 19th, February 16th, and March 16th in 2023.
One of the most highly anticipated attractions for the Christmas season was the annual Christmas Lights Contest hosted by My Property Shoppe. On Thursday night they held regular trolley rides throughout the city for riders to see each of the contestants to vote on which house has their favorite Christmas decorations.
While waiting between trolley rides several downtown shops were filled with Christmas sales, including Wind and Unwind, Gysbers Jewelry, and Reiki’s Essentials. The Waupun Fine Arts committee also put together a group for downtown Christmas in the evening.
The final day of voting for the My Property Shoppe Christmas lights contest is Saturday the 17th.
Earlier this week, the Waupun City Hall Auditorium hosted the first “Ecumenical Festival of Lessons and Carols,” a collaborative event between Waupun area churches to celebrate Christ’s birth together.
