City Hall Hosts Waupun Area Churches for “Ecumenical Festival of Lessons and Carols”

WAUPUN — City Hall was filled with Christmas cheer as Waupun residents sang carols and heard the lessons of Christ’s birth at the Ecumenical Festival of Lessons and Carols Sunday night.

The service was led by pastors from various local churches including Barry Lang from First Reformed Church, Greg Schuringa from First Christian Reformed Church, John Radetsku of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Jerry Molitor of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Steve Miller of Waupun UMC, Jacob Nault of Union Congregational Church, and Sandy Oestereich.

Choirs from St. Joseph Catholic Church and Waupun United Methodist Church. The carols and choirs were accompanied by pianists Laura Ten Pass and Christopher Nord.

The Festival hymns included Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus, Oh Come All Ye Faithful, Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, O Little Town of Bethlehem, Still, Still, Still, We Three Kings, Silent Night, and Joy to the World. Seven lessons and prayers were interspersed between the hymns.

The Waupun Ecumenical Committee plans to make the Festival of Lessons and Carols an annual event at City Hall, along with other regular joint church services.
