WAUPUN — Edgewood Community Church of Waupun celebrated their 30th Anniversary last Saturday with hundreds of members from across its four campus locations.

Edgewood Community Church is a Evangelical free church that started in Waupun in 1996, and has grown significantly since its humble beginnings—expanding into Fond du Lac, Beaver Dam, and Sheboygan.

“We are celebrating God’s faithfulness for 30 years here, and this is the first time we’ve gathered all four campuses together,” said Roger Knowlton, Senior Pastor at Edgewood Community Church. “We’re here celebrating what God has done, and he’s done incredible things.”

Knowlton has been with Edgewood for 28 years, only two years after the church was planted in Waupun.

“We were planted out of an Evangelical Free Church in Randolph, which was thriving, and there were a bunch of people traveling to Randolph from Waupun,” Knowlton said. “They got a vision to start a church here in Waupun, which met in Ken and Amy Medema’s living room for a while, and then we called our first church planning Pastor, his name was John Gauss. The church got established and was striving, and I came a couple years later, and God has been faithful ever since.”

Edgewood started in Waupun with about 200 to 250 members in 1999, but over the last several years expanded into other communities, with campuses in Beaver Dam, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan. Now, Edgewood gets an attendance of about 1200 to 1300 parisheners every weekend across all campuses, with 500 to 600 in Waupun alone.

“If you don’t have a church home, we would love to have you visit and we really try to make the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the center of everything,” Knowlton said. “The Gospel means if you recognize that you’ve fallen short and you break God’s law, there is absolute forgiveness in what Jesus did taking our place at the Cross, and we welcome everybody.”

Activities included corn hole and other yard games, bouncy castles. Refreshments were also offered including popcorn, cotton candy, snow cones, and Culver’s custard—as well as the Chic-Fil-A food truck. Live music was performed by the Edgewood Church worship team.

Activities began at 3:30PM and went until 5:30PM, when the 30th Anniversary service began in the large tent.
