Mayor’s Column February 14, 2026
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun,

What a beautiful weekend we have coming up. On Presidents’ Day Monday, we’re looking at high temps close to 60 degrees! With the nice weather comes the melting of snow, and a break of the winter season. The Knights of Columbus fish frys have returned, and pitchers and catchers have reported to spring training! We’re less than a month away from daylight savings so spring is right around the corner!

Assuming winter will make a return, it is Wisconsin after all, I want to remind everyone we must clear our sidewalks 24 hours after a snowfall. For whatever reason, the last month or so we have had a lot of complaints about non shoveled walks, and our contractor has been busy clearing the snow. When we get a complaint about a non-shoveled sidewalk, our contractor goes to the location, takes a picture that proves a date and time, clears the snow, and takes a picture of the work having been completed. The homeowner is left with a door hanger, and the cost of the snow removal.

Clearing snow is a city ordinance because it’s a safety issue. Foks in wheelchairs struggle getting through even the slightest amount of snow, and slippery snowy conditions are dangerous for anyone out walking, but especially for our seniors. Please help us keep our sidewalks clear of snow, ice, grass clippings, or any debris.

Coming up on February 26 the Waupun VFW is hosting a day of service event from 4 to 6 pm at the Waupun Public Library. They’ll have a short 30 minute film about the VFW and its history, and what they do for the community. All are invited to join!

Thank you and enjoy this beautiful weekend,

Mayor Rohn
