Mayor’s Column July 11, 2026
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun,

I hope everyone enjoyed the Independence Day weekend.

Being that this was the holiday week, I feel like it was a fairly slow news week as far as stuff for me to write about. I can say that construction began on Shaler Drive, and that road work is beginning on HWY 26 near the 151 interchanges near the Heritage Ridge Travel Center. The roadway will remain open with flaggers during the project; however, there will be some nights that the HWY 26 interchange is closed to allow them to do concrete work on the bridge and ramps.

Construction for the downtown alley project has hit the next phase, and you can plan on it being a mess and an annoyance for a little while now. Construction projects are always inconvenient, but it will be worth it when the project is completed.

Rosie the Riveter will be moving to a new home! National Rivet is doing a landscaping project and part of that includes a nicer, safer, and prettier location for Rosie. Thank you to National Rivet for investing in Waupun’s history with the donation to help purchase Rosie that will keep her here in Waupun. She is definitely a big part of both Waupun and National Rivet’s story.

As part of the library summer activates and the celebration of America 250, the Waupun Library is doing a Waupun Scavenger Hunt. Our family is participating in it and it’s a fun family activity. You have until the end of July to identify nine objects hidden in plain sight somewhere in our city. If you want to join in, just stop at the library for your chance to win some cool prizes.

Thank you
Mayor Rohn
