WAUPUN — Three Waupun School Board seats are up for election this year and on the ballot this spring, along with other local elected officials.
The election will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2026 and includes races for Wisconsin Supreme Court, Court of Appeals, and County District Judges. Early in-person voting started Tuesday, March 24.
Of the three open seats for Waupun School Board, two represent the City of Waupun, while the other seat represents the Towns of Burnett, Chester, Oakfield, Springvale and Town of Waupun.
Waupun School District School Board Member – City of Waupun
(Vote for Not More Than Two)
• Richard Baumann
• Jennie Patrykus (incumbent)
Jennie Patrykus is a long-time incumbent, having been first elected in 2014.
“My name is Jennie Patrykus, and I am running for reelection to my seat on the WASD Board of Education,” Patrykus wrote in a statement to WPN. “I have been on the Board since 2014, have served as Board Clerk, and have served as Board President for the last 2 years. My husband Doug & I have been blessed to have lived in Waupun for 30 years, and have raised our 5 kids here, all attending the WASD schools.”
“Waupun has been a wonderful place to live, and raise our family. We have many dear friends and family here, and are so fortunate to know many fine people who make up this community. My vision and goal as a school board member has been, and continues to be this: it is our duty to equip each student with the means to discover, and make the most of their God-given talents and gifts, through opportunities, and learning here in our WASD.”
“Our children’s education is a partnership… firstly, with their parents and families, and then with our incredible staff, as we help prepare these young people to step out into our world, and become productive, contributing members of our society. We, as a Board, also partner with our talented administrative staff, to build and maintain high standards in curriculum, student services, facilities, and responsible financial management. These can be quite challenging at times, amidst ever-changing economic and legislative conditions. It’s been a privelege to serve with my fellow board members these years, and I look forward to serving another 3 year term. Thank you for your consideration, and I would very much appreciate your support,” Patrykus said.
Richard Baumann is running for the open seat for the School District representing the City of Waupun. This spot was previously held by Dustin Gassner, who held the seat since winning the election in 2023 and decided not to run again this year.
Bauman, who lives in the City of Waupun, is a first-timer for local politics.
“My daughter is attending Meadow View and my son will be attending there as well—they truly are the motivation for me to be in this position,” Bauman said in a statement to WPN. “I want to ensure they get a good education, and that the rest of the students in the district do as well.”
Representing the Towns of Burnett, Chester, Oakfield, Springvale and Town of Waupun
(Vote for One)
• Andrea Brossard (incumbent)
• Nick Maas
Andrew Brossard is a one-year incumbent due to being appointed to fill a vacancy in 2025. Brossard lives in the Town of Burnett and is seeking reelection for a two-year term.
“When I was appointed to this board, I made a commitment to every student, every family, and every community member in this district that I would show up, listen, and advocate with my whole heart,” wrote Brossard in a statement to WPN. “That commitment hasn’t wavered, and it won’t. Since joining the board, I’ve focused on what matters most: supporting our students and strengthening the connections between our schools and the community that surrounds them. I believe every child who walks through the doors of a Waupun school deserves to feel seen, supported, and set up for success.”
“I bring a unique perspective to this work. As a third-generation dairy farmer, marketing consultant, educator, coach, and mentor, I understand both the challenges families face and the incredible potential our students carry. I’ve spent decades investing in young people through FFA, through the classroom, through the fields and I carry that same dedication to this board,” she said. “I would be deeply honored to earn your trust and continue this work. Together, we can ensure every student in the Waupun Area School District has the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.”
Challenging her for the seat is Nick Maas, who lives in Atwater, just south of Waupun.
“My kids go to the Waupun High School and I feel in many ways the current leadership is not utilizing some great programs and facilities for the youth of our community,” Maas said in a statement to Waupun Pioneer News. “I want to empower every student to have the skills and opportunities needed to succeed in going to secondary school or jumping right into the real world workforce. We have lost some great staff due to poor leadership and I think that must change.”
“I want to make sure the FFA program gets the support it had a few short years ago bringing it back to being a leader in the state. I also want to see the investment in our shop programs to empower youth apprenticeship with the many trades and businesses in our area that need well trained and motivated young people,” Mass said.
While the two candidates for the District representing the City of Waupun can both be voted for and elected, only one of the candidates for the Towns of Burnett, Chest, Oakfield, Springvale, and Town of Waupun can be elected between Brossard and Maas.
Elected candidates will take office at the next School Board meeting on April 27, 2026.
Also on the ballot for the City of Waupun are Mayor of Waupun Rohn Bishop, City Council members Alderman Jason Westphal, Alderman Mike Matoushek, and Alderwoman Bobbi Jo Kunz, who are all running unopposed.
County Supervisors are also up for election. For residents in Fond du Lac County in the east half of the City and the Town of Waupun, County Supervisor Jon Venhuizen (Fond du Lac County 7th District), and the east half and Town of Alto is Michael Beer (Fond du Lac County 6th District).
The Dodge County side of the City of Waupun has three County Supervisors, Evan Meinel for District 25, Randy VandeZande for District 26, and Marilyn Klobuchar for District 27. The Town of Trenton is represented by County Supervisor Mary Bobholz (Dodge County District 2), and most of the Town of Chester by County Supervisor Jeff Breselow (Dodge County District 6).
All are incumbents running unopposed for their respective positions.
