WAUPUN — Waupun’s Christian Home Care and Rehab Center held their first Community Pie Social event after five years of hiatus.
The Christian Home, located at 452 Fox Lake Rd, Waupun, came under new management after being sold by SSM Health to Complete Care earlier this year.
The pie social was held annually at the former facility at 328 S Division St, Waupun. The Christian Home moved to its current location in 2019 after determining their previous facility did not suit their needs anymore. After moving to the new building, the former facility was turned into apartments, with the east wing turned into a banquet event space and offices.
Lauren Fetrow, who has been facility administrator at Christian Home since September, said she really wanted to bring the pie social back after hearing about it from several residents.
“I came here in September and it felt like we still hadn’t recovered from Covid and opened things up again,” Fetrow said. “Since I’ve been the administrator here, I kept hearing about the pie social over and over again, very nostalgic—so we’re excited to kind of try it out again and we’re hoping it’ll be an annual thing again.”
The Pie Social event was held on Saturday, July 19, from 1PM to 3PM. Pie was baked by Go-Dutch Solutions, who operate out of the former Christian Home facility. Raffle items were placed in the west foyer. Music, yard games, and a bouncy castle were also outside on the west side of the building.
“Several people have asked how much is the Christian Home keeping, and we’re not keeping anything,” she said. “We wanted to show that we’re here for the community as much as the community has been here for us. We’re really excited to be a part of the community again.”
Proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the Waupun Community Center.
Waupun Christian Home Care and Rehab Center serves about 76 residents in assisted living and about 36 in the skilled nursing unit.
