Mayor’s Column August 24, 2024
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Waupun has a lot going on!

On Tuesday, the railroad crossing at Lincoln Street will be getting worked on. The old track will be removed, and work will be done to smooth out the crossing. This means that on Tuesday, Lincoln Street will be closed at the crossing, so please plan accordingly.

A new Kwik Trip will be coming to Waupun next year at the site of the Stop N Go and Subway. That area will be a Kwik Trip service station, with convenience store and a new carwash.  The carwash will be soft touch or touch free, whatever the customer prefers.

Tony’s Pizza will be expanding, and why wouldn’t it? Locally famous for their amazing Italian/American foods it’s a destination for locals and tourists alike.

The city council did update our city’s purchase policy to allow us to buy more from local vendors. I’m glad we finally got that across the finish line. I am a big believer that the city should give back to the businesses who give so much to our community. Helping each other succeed helps make Waupun a great city.

The new food truck court will be opening on October 5 at 10am. I don’t know yet what the food options will be, but I for one love a good brat at breakfast.

Last night, Jenny and I enjoyed attending the football Warriors’ season opener. Hard to believe it’s back to school already! As school starts up, please look for kiddos and be patient during Waupun’s two “rush hours” at around 7 to 8 am and 3 to 5 pm.  I hope all our wonderful teachers, support staff, administration, and the students have a fantastic 24/25 school year.

Thank you, Waupun and God Bless,

Mayor Rohn
