Mayor’s Column February 3rd, 2024
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun!

Well, we survived the great internet blackout of 2024! It was a frustrating day with no internet and terribly bad cell service. You don’t realize how much you rely on technology until you don’t have it. A funny story from our house; when my wife got home, the girls were worried that the toilets wouldn’t flush because the internet was down! We had to explain that the toilets aren’t online! It was a wakeup call about raising kids in the internet generation..

This weekend is the Emmanuel Church women’s retreat. I was a little disappointed they didn’t invite the state’s best-looking mayor to speak to them, but I hope they’ll have a great time nonetheless. 🙂

In city news, the new Waupun Ice Fest is only two weeks away!  And, in a sign that Spring is near, the Knights of Columbus fish fries are back at the Catholic Church!

Progress continues as well.  You’re seeing continued improvements at the new community/senior center. Waupun is growing as we purchased more land for development, and we’re looking for part time summer help. Construction has begun on the new brewery coming to our downtown, and you’ll soon see new Waupun themed murals coming to our city.

I’m also partnering with the Other Bar for a few meat raffle fundraisers for important Waupun causes throughout 2024. So, stay tuned about ways to help support Waupun!

Enjoy the upcoming spring-like weather!

Thank you and God Bless,
Mayor Rohn
