WAUPUN — Ver Hage’s Furniture Mart announced Friday morning that Alan Ver Hage has sold the company to Luke and Logan Ganz and has retired from the business this week.

The announcement was made following the observation of their 50th anniversary in Waupun, where brothers Al and Wayne Ver Hage started the business in the same warehouse in 1974.

“The 50th Birthday Celebration has come to an end and so has the ownership of VerHage’s Furniture Mart,” the post says. “We thank the Waupun and surrounding communities for supporting us over the past 50 years. All of you who stopped in to purchase furniture or just chat for a while were very much appreciated and will be missed.”

The Facebook post stated that two of their longtime employees, brothers Luke and Logan Ganz, would be taking ownership of the business and maintaining it for the years to come.

“50 years in the community and with the surrounding communities has been very supportive,” Alan Ver Hage said. “We have quite a base of customers and they come from all over. In fact my last sale was to somebody from Sun Prairie.”

According to the new owners, they will be sticking with the Ver Hage’s name, but will be creating a new Facebook page with a new modern logo. The reason for the change is to modernize their social media, along with getting past some administrative issues on the old account due to its age on the Facebook platform.

But despite the new owners and the coming new look, they’re looking to maintain the high quality service they provide to the community.

“Al and Wayne started this business 50 years ago and we don’t want to mess with anything that’s already working,” new owner Luke Ganz said in a statement to WPN. “We’ll make a couple tweaks, as well as make some operational transitions, but for the most part, we’re looking to stick to what has been built and we don’t want to change anything. We respect what they’ve built and we want to continue that legacy.”

The sale was completed earlier this week with Alan Ver Hage himself observing his last day on Wednesday.
