Dr. Christopher Gann named Head of School-Elect

WAUPUN — The Board of Directors is blessed and honored to announce that Dr. Christopher Gann has been named the Head of School Elect for Central Wisconsin Christian (Waupun). The leadership transition will begin this summer, when Mr. Mark Buteyn will retire after 42 years of service to Central Wisconsin Christian, 15 as the Head of School.
“Our team began by listing key characteristics that we were looking for in our next Head of School,” stated Head of School Search Team chair Steve Perry. “Throughout the initial review of materials, through Chris’ interview, and his in-person visit it became clear that he checked all of the boxes we were looking for.”
Dr. Gann graduated from the University of Tennessee with a degree in business/accounting, but after a few years of working in the business world continued to feel the call into education. “In many ways I was ignoring and pushing off God’s call to be a teacher and letting other goals in my life take precedence,” Gann recalled. “Eventually it was clear that the Lord wanted me to serve and work with kids.”
Gann worked for several years in public schools and education-related companies in Texas, eventually gaining his masters’ degree in school counseling and his doctorate in Educational Leadership. For the past six years he and his wife have both served on the leadership team at Santiago Christian School in the Dominican Republic. While there, he has worked as the Elementary Principal and the Director of Advancement & Special Projects.
“Chris is a gifted leader who connected with our committee and our staff in a very powerful way,” stated Board President Jeff Navis. “We worked through many candidates and had many conversations since our process began this summer. When the Search Team and the Board prayerfully deliberated, both were unanimous in their decision that Dr. Gann would lead us well into the future.”
Dr. Gann and his wife Jennifer are the parents of three kids – Calder (senior), Ainsley (freshman), and Malachi (4th grade) at Santiago Christian School. “In searching for where God would lead me to serve, I looked at more than 100 schools but CWC really stood out. Their website, their foundational documents, and the historical tradition that they hold really connected to us. When we visited we could feel that those weren’t just words, but they were reality in action, and we are excited to come to Waupun and to become a part of the Crusader family.”
Established in 1948, Central Wisconsin Christian provides a Christ centered education to students from Waupun, Fond du Lac, Mayville, Beaver Dam, Ripon, Randolph and several other communities in Dodge, Fond du Lac, Columbia, and Green Lake Counties. CWC provides transportation for families throughout the area.
