WAUPUN — Katrina Pokorny resigned from the Waupun Board of Education as of Monday, per a press release from the School District.

Katrina Pokorny was elected in 2022 to represent the Towns of Burnett, Chester, Oakfield, Springvale, and Waupun.

The reason stated for resignation was a change of address out of district.

Pokorney’s resignation marks another shift in the School Board’s membership with the upcoming election to be held Tuesday, April 2.

There are two seats open for election this year, with Stephen Chene and Karen Gibbs facing off for the at-large seat, and incumbent Jodi Schultz facing challenger Rebecca L. Droessler Mersch for the seat representing the City of Fox Lake and Towns of Fox Lake and Westford.

The vacant position left by Pokorny will be filled by appointment on May 6. Those interested in filling the position can contact Trisha Visser at the Waupun School District for details. The appointed member will hold the position through the rest of her term, which is up for election in April 2025.

Pokorny did not respond for comment as of publishing time.

Below can be found the official notice regarding the vacancy.
