Envision Greater Fond du Lac
July 1, 2026
FOND DU LAC — As communities across the country compete for skilled workers, Envision Greater Fond du Lac is inviting employers and community leaders to learn how Fond du Lac County is working to attract the next generation of talent.
Envision Greater Fond du Lac will host a Make My Move Information Session & Community Roundtable on Thursday, July 9, from noon to 1:00 p.m. The session is open to employers, workforce partners, realtors, community ambassadors, young professionals, elected officials, educators, and anyone interested in helping strengthen Fond du Lac County’s workforce.
Lunch will be provided, and there is no cost to attend but registration is required.
Today’s workforce challenges extend beyond filling current job openings. Approximately one in five Fond du Lac County residents is age 65 or older, and long-term demographic projections indicate that without intentional action, our community could begin experiencing population decline in the coming decades. A shrinking working-age population impacts employers’ ability to grow, schools, housing demand, local businesses, and the overall strength of the regional economy.
“Talent attraction isn’t simply about filling jobs today—it’s about ensuring Fond du Lac County remains a place where businesses can invest, families can thrive, and communities continue to grow,” said Sadie Howell, President and CEO of Envision Greater Fond du Lac. “If we want our employers to continue expanding here, we have to be intentional about attracting and retaining working-age adults.”
The roundtable will provide an overview of Envision’s recently launched Make My Move initiative, a talent attraction program funded through a competitive grant from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC). The program aims to attract 32 working households from outside Wisconsin over the next two years as one component of Envision’s broader workforce strategy.
Participants will learn how the program operates, who qualifies, and how local employers and community organizations can play a role in welcoming new residents. The session will also include updates on relocation efforts, program progress, and opportunities for collaboration.
“This initiative succeeds because of the community—not because of one organization,” Howell said. “When employers, realtors, schools, young professionals, local governments, community organizations, and residents work together to welcome new people, we create an environment where individuals and families choose to stay. That’s what this conversation is about.”
The event is intended to foster collaboration among the many organizations and individuals who influence a newcomer’s experience in Fond du Lac County. Attendees will have an opportunity to share ideas, ask questions, and explore ways to support long-term workforce growth.
The Make My Move initiative is one of several strategies Envision Greater Fond du Lac is leading to address workforce sustainability, alongside housing initiatives, childcare advocacy, employer engagement, entrepreneurship, leadership development, and talent retention efforts.
“Our community has a strong story to tell,” Howell said. “This roundtable is an opportunity to better understand our workforce challenges, learn about the tools available to address them, and discuss how each of us can contribute to Fond du Lac County’s future.”
Community members interested in attending must register in advance at envisiongreaterfdl.com. Secure your spot today! Registration closes by noon on Tuesday, July 7.
