WAUPUN — This weekend is packed with local events ranging from live entertainment, a parade, a downtown, and a once-in-a-lifetime historical rededication ceremony.
The weekend will be kicked off with this year’s Homecoming Parade. Immediately following the parade will be the “Hops and Shops” Downtown Bear Walk. Similar to the Waupun Wine Walk, the event will be held in businesses throughout downtown Waupun with a variety of beers offered in each participating business.
And finally, one of Waupun’s greatest cultural cornerstones, The Recording Angel, is turning 100 years old next week. It is to be celebrated with a Centennial Rededication Ceremony at 10AM Saturday morning to honor Clarence Addison Shaler’s many contributions to the community. In recognition of this momentous event, local theater group the Waupun Community Players will be hosting a play based on the true events of a threat against the Shaler-Hanisch family and the Recording Angel in the 1920s.
