WAUPUN — Downtown Waupun was flooded with over 500 people attending the annual Wine Walk event, hosted by Discover Downtown Waupun and sponsored by Wind and Unwined. The Waupun Wine Walk is held every year on the first Friday in May.
Tickets were sold out of the Waupun Recreation and Senior Center on the corner of Main and Mill street, with lines going all the way down the street at the beginning of the event, which went from 5pm to 9pm.
The Wine Walk organizers sold 500 wine tickets and 50 “mocktail” tickets. A total of 22 businesses participated in the Wine Walk, providing two types of wine each. A full list of participating businesses was included on the Facebook event invite.
A number of other downtown businesses adjusted open hours for participants to check out during the evening, including the new Main Street Bistro & Bakery, which had a one-night-only limited offer of Big Todd’s style pizza, a popular pizza place that used to be in Downtown Waupun. According to the owners, they received over 30 orders within the first hour of the Facebook post announcing the limit-time offer.
Main Street Bistro & Bakery will host their grand opening ribbon cutting event on June 2nd.
