WAUPUN — The Republican Party of Fond du Lac County held its monthly meeting at Werner Harmsen Event Center in Waupun on Wednesday. The meeting included a lineup of local and regional political officials, as well as candidates running for office in the county.

FDLGOP Chairman Timothy Bachleitner, who ran for the County Supervisor position in Ripon earlier this year, started the meeting with a prayer and thanked the local officials for their work in the communities.

The first speakers were Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt and Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt. Both Sheriffs spoke on the matters of ongoing public safety concerns, and reiterated their commitment to keeping the communities safe. State Senator Joan Ballweg, State Senator Dan Feyen, Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiberg, and Mayor of Waupun Rohn Bishop gave remarks about their positions, discussing various current events and future plans for their respective offices.

Candidates for 52nd Assembly District—which represents the city of Fond du Lac and surrounding townships—Lawrence Foster and Jerry O’Connor also spoke at the meeting about their plans if they are elected in November. Lawrence Foster ran for Fond du Lac City Council in previous election years. Jerry O’Conner was the President of the National Bank of Waupun.

Candidate for Fond du lac County Executive Sam Kaufman gave his remarks nearing the end of the meeting, outlining his priorities if he is elected in the upcoming special election on June 7th. Kaufman is an attorney based in Waupun and is currently serving his 6th year as County Board Supervisor.
