WAUPUN — The Waupun Hockey Association held their 15th annual “Pink Out the Rink” event this weekend, this time supporting recipient Stacey Beekman who has been involved in Waupun ice sports since she was in school here in Waupun.
The Pink Out night was held during the Shawano at Waupun Varsity game on Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Included in the event program was a list of events during the game and a message from Stacey Beekman about her story and diagnosis last year.
“Hi everyone! I’m Stacey Beekman, and Waupun has always been my home—I was born and raised here, and I’m still a proud resident today. I’m married to my amazing husband, Kevin, of 29 years. Together, we have two sons, Ryan and Brady, and we recently welcomed Brady’s wife, Lauren, to the family! If you’ve been around Waupun, you probably know us from the rink! Our family’s been involved in Waupun Hockey for 25 years. We made so many lifelong friends and wonderful memories spending countless nights and weekends cheering on our sons. Above all, we love hanging out with our family and friends.”
“This past summer, life took an unexpected turn,” she wrote. “On August 1st, I received a diagnosis of Ductal Carcinoma in situ (DCIS), high nuclear grade. I had a bilateral mastectomy with immediate reconstruction and tissue expander placement on August 28th. I had my second surgery, to place the expanders with the final prosthesis, on December 11th and everything went well.”
“I want to express my deepest thanks. I am so very grateful and truly honored to be chosen as this year’s beneficiary.”
Stacey Beekman was invited out on the ice following the first period to introduce herself, with Chuck-a-Puck held between the second and third period. Both the Chuck-a-Puck winner and 50/50 raffle winners donated their winnings back to the fundraiser. A raffle and donut sale was also ongoing throughout the game with raffle winners picked during the third period.
The Waupun Varsity team played the Shawano Hawks, while the JV team played St Mary Springs prior to the Varsity game. The game ended 5-1, Waupun Varsity taking the win over Shawano. Waupun JV also won 3-1 against Springs.
