WAUPUN — Next week Waupun will host the 34th Annual Waupun Truck-n-Show, one of the largest trucking-themed events in the state.
The Waupun Truck-n-Show, originally founded as the Truckers Jamboree, is an annual weekend celebration of the trucking industry to honor the role trucking plays in the modern economy. It takes place at Tanner Park in Waupun on the second weekend of August.
The organization responsible for putting together the event, the Waupun Truck-n-Show Committee, held their final official meeting Saturday morning in preparation for next week’s events. The committee is an all-volunteer non-profit organization dedicated to organizing this weekend event.
The meeting covered normal orders of business and finalizing any outstanding details. Volunteers spent much of the time putting together goodie bags for all the drivers coming to attend this year’s Truck-n-Show.
“There’s a lot of new people coming to the show this year, and a lot of new things,” said Nancy Kutschenreuter, committee vice president. “Like I said earlier, I think we did a facelift on everything. It’s going to be packed with vendors, we got food trucks coming, and good music.”
Live music will play from 8PM to 11:30PM each night with Grand Union playing outdoors on Friday night and Sonic Circus Saturday night in the Community Center.
The Waupun Hockey Association will also be providing concessions during the weekend.
“It’s going to be awesome,” Nancy added. “All I pray for is that we have good weather.”
This will be the second year of the Truck-n-Show without the late Ron VandeZande who was honored as one of the founding members at last year’s Show.
