Mayor’s Column October 25, 2025
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun,

Well, I’m finally thawed out from last night’s football game, and while the score wasn’t what we were hoping for, what a fun and exciting season! The Waupun Warriors compiled an 8-1 record and were able to host the first home playoff game in some 18 years. Thank you to the Warrior Football team for a great season. Thank you, coaches, fans, teachers, volunteers and everyone who helps throughout the season. And thank you to Steve Winterhack and Randy Armga at WFDL for the live streaming. Finally, kudos to the Warriorettes, great job ladies with the half time performances all season!

This evening beginning at 4:30PM is the 10th annual Waupun Forest Mound Cemetery Walk. If you want to come out and dig up some history in a fun, interactive, and sometimes spooky way, we hope to see you there. Tour groups start regularly until 7PM. All proceeds go to the Waupun Historical Society.

Trick-or-Treating is on Halloween, Friday October 31 from 4PM until 6PM. With no Main Street trick-or-treat, hopefully we see a return to lots of kids out in neighborhoods.

This upcoming Tuesday at 1PM will be my monthly listening session at the community center. I always give an update and then have a question-and-answer period. It’s free and open to anyone. Come out and ask your questions!

We’re only nine weeks from Christmas!! First, that means this next weekend is already the Downton Waupun kickoff to the holiday season, and Saturday November 1, is the Downtown Waupun Holiday Wine Walk event. Tickets are still available on the Discover Downtown Waupun Facebook Page.

Second, that also means it’s time to think of those who may be struggling for the season. If you or someone you know could anonymously use a little help this Christmas, WAUPUN HOLIDAY HELP Applications are available at Waupun City Hall, Waupun Food Pantry, the National Exchange Bank, and Waupun Area School District offices. Completed applications need to be returned no later than Friday, November 21 to City Hall, Food Pantry, or National Exchange Bank. Distribution of gifts and food coupons will be on Saturday, December 13, at the Waupun Fire Department. In addition, we are looking for individuals, families, and organizations from the Waupun area who would be willing to adopt a family and purchase gifts for their children. Applications for donors can be obtained by contacting Jessica Buchholz at the National Exchange Bank (920-324-5551).

Thank you, Waupun! Happy Halloween and I hope to see you at today’s cemetery walk

Mayor Rohn
