Mayor’s Column April 26, 2025
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun!

Yesterday I had the privilege of visiting the Wapun High School and watching business students’ pitch their business plans as part of the INCubator-edu business program. The Incubator-edu program offers students an authentic entrepreneurship experience. In this program, students have the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service. The class is a partnership between Waupun High, and community business owners, some of whom serve as volunteer coaches and mentors guiding student teams through the processes of developing a business idea, a plan, how to get financed, how to market, and make a profit. The winning team was awarded $300, and I for one, was thankful to not have been a judge, because both business concepts were awesome, and the students did great! Congratulations and thank you to teacher Stacy Smits, along with Jennifer Bishop, Envision, and Kathy Schlieve, for launching this new program for our students, and thank you for inviting me. Waupun’s future is in good hands with these future business leaders!

In other news, Waupun continues to be a busy place. If you drive out in the industrial park, you’ll see the new Eagle Flexible Packaging facility being built. On Waupun’s west end you see the new Dollar General Market going up, and on the east side a new Kwik Trip. Soon you’ll see dirt moving on Bayberry Lane as construction of a new apartment complex begins.

Tuesday will be my monthly update/listening session at the new community center at 1pm. All are welcome to attend, and you do not have to pay or be a member to attend the Mayor’s update. I hope to see you there!

Finally, today (Saturday) there is a brat fry in support of the Waupun Animal Shelter at the Wild Boar. So, if you don’t have lunch plans, come out and support the shelter!

Thank you,
Mayor Rohn
