Mayor’s Column April 12, 2025
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun
Hello Waupun!
Yesterday, I had the privilege of speaking to (mostly) Freshman in Ms. Fields’ Waupun Junior Senior High School History of Democracies classes. Over my now three years as mayor, I have always enjoyed visiting the schools and speaking with students. They ask great questions and hopefully some get inspired to serve in local government someday.
On Tuesday, I met with the Secretary of Corrections Jared Hoy at Village Garden. We had an excellent conversation about Waupun Correctional and Waupun going forward. I really appreciate the secretary making the time to meet. I’m thankful to both he and Governor Evers for listening to me and wanting our input moving forward. I think this is the best the relationship has been between the City and the State of Wisconsin in a very long time. And that’s a good thing!
On Thursday, I attended the closing and signed the paperwork for the Carver Flats project, that’s the new apartment complex that will be built on Bayberry Lane. Look for dirt to start moving there next month.
On Wednesday, April 23, at the Waupun High School is the student council sponsored blood drive. My daughter is now a member of the student council, so I have been asked (told) to help let folks know about it! Go to RedCrossBlood.org for more information.
The Waupun Animal Shelter annual meeting is coming up on April 28 at 6pm at the Waupun Public Library. They are looking for more board members and need help to continue operations. If this is something you think you’d be interested in, please attend the meeting or reach out to the Waupun Shelter.
This week is Good Friday and because of that city hall will be closed. Good Friday is a city holiday. As we begin Holy Week, I hope everyone has a blessed week and Easter!
Thank you
Mayor Rohn
