WAUPUN — The SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic is pleased to welcome board-certified obstetrician/gynecologist Shawn Laibly, MD, who is now seeing patients at the Fond du Lac Regional Clinic, 608 W. Brown Street, Waupun, and SSM Health Physician Offices, 130 Corporate Drive, Beaver Dam.

Dr. Laibly is serving with Drs. Michelle Bahn-Palma and Karen Meyer, both SSM Health Fond du Lac Regional Clinic board-certified obstetricians/gynecologists.

As an obstetrician/gynecologist, Dr. Laibly provides comprehensive health care services to women of all ages, including pregnancy and childbirth, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the female reproductive system, and management of perimenopausal and menopausal symptoms.

“I really enjoy pelvic floor issues utilizing non-surgical and surgical solutions,” Dr. Laibly explains. “I have utilized laparoscopy and minimally invasive surgical procedures my entire career. I love learning new approaches and I pursue continuing medical education programs to do so. And of course, I love helping families grow.”

A graduate of the University of Minnesota Medical School, Dr. Laibly completed his obstetrics and gynecology residency at Blodget/St. Mary’s in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

He is board certified by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology and American Society of Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. He is certified by the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists/Minimally Invasive Surgery, and a member of the Wisconsin Medical Society.

“My style of care is calming and reassuring,” says Dr. Laibly. “I try to know a little about each patient concern before I get into the room. I enjoy making small talk on introduction. I want patients to feel calm and respected. Most importantly, I listen. It is very important to listen to what people are explaining to me. I don’t interrupt and when people tell me their ‘story.’ I will ask questions at the right time. I care about everyone I take care of, and I want them to know I am listening. It is simply part of my fabric to listen and offer help.”

Dr. Laibly chose obstetrics/gynecology “because I love delivering babies, doing surgery and spending time with patients in the clinic. I experienced an incredible exhilarating feeling the first time I delivered a baby. Sharing that moment with families is simply a wonderful experience. Each time is special.

“As a physician who has helped many families grow, it has been incredibly rewarding,” Dr. Laibly adds. “I enjoy using my hands and the surgical aspects of my specialty allow me to do that. Finally, I really enjoy my clinic. It allows me to interact with patients, get to know them, share tears and smiles and help them feel better. I love our office staff and we always work together to make the patient’s experience as calming and easy as possible.”

Dr. Laibly’s number one hobby is doing things with his wife and their four children. “My wife and I have always focused our lives on our kids,” he explains. “We love to travel to National Parks and have been fortunate to have enjoyed many cool experiences together as a family.”

In addition, he loves to cook many different cuisines and learning different techniques and exploring different flavors. Dr. Laibly also enjoys reading historical fiction and good history stories, walking, biking, swimming, skiing, scuba diving and boating. He also participates in That Man is You through his church weekly, which has helped to strengthen his faith and keep it central in his life and actions.

“At the end of the day, providing the best care to each and every patient is most important,” according to Dr. Laibly. “I love teaching and more importantly, I love learning. If I do not know the answer, I’ll find it, or I will get the patient to the right specialist if that is what is needed.”
