Mayor’s Column October 21st, 2023
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun!

This past week I had the privilege of joining Waupun Utilities’ Steve Brooks and Jen Benson, as we visited the state capitol to celebrate the 95th anniversary of the Municipal Electric Utilities of Wisconsin, of which Waupun is a member. Being a public power community means that Waupun residents enjoy lower electricity rates, more dependable service, and the peace of mind of having local ownership of the utility.

Waupun Utilities is governed by a Utility Commission of which the members are appointed by the Mayor with Council approval, and are held accountable to you, the rate payer.

We had great conversations with Senator Feyen and Representative Schraa about the importance of Waupun having a locally owned public utilities, and it was nice to catch up with a bunch of old friends in the capitol while lobbying for Waupun!

As for this weekend, (Saturday) Waupun is hosting the Kickin’ for Kevin event at the baseball complex and the Historical Society is hosting the annual Cemetery Walk in memory of my dad from 4-6.  Next Saturday is the Halloween on Main from 2-4 followed by Trick-or -Treat from 4-6.

The annual fall yard waste pick up has begun, so rake your stuff to the curb, and tune up those snow blowers, because you know what’s coming!

Thank you and God Bless,
Mayor Rohn
