WAUPUN — Former Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Daniel Kelly was the keynote speaker at a local Republican Party event held at The Rock Golf Club in Waupun Thursday evening. The meeting was attended by over 60 people including local and state-wide candidates and officials.

The “Spirit Rally” was a joint meeting hosted by the Fond du Lac County Republican Party, chaired by Timothy Bachleitner, and the Dodge County Republican Party, chaired by Jack Yuds. Both chapters of the Grand Old Party wished to make Waupun feel included in the process due to Waupun being split down the middle by the county line. The Fond du Lac County Republican Party previously held its monthly meeting in Waupun back in May.

Justice Kelly, who served on the Wisconsin State Supreme Court from 2016 to 2020, spoke on the roles of the three branches of government and the importance of appointing constitutionalist judges to the bench.

Other speakers at the event included Election Integrity Supervisor Pam Behnke and Brett Galaszewski from Turning Point Action, the outreach wing of Turning Point USA.

Other local officials in attendance were Fond du Lac County Executive Sam Kaufman, Fond du Lac County Clerk Lisa Freiburg, Fond du Lac County Sheriff Ryan Waldschmidt, and Dodge County Sheriff Dale Schmidt.

Common themes throughout the meeting included the rule of law, protecting the courts from activist judges, and ensuring that Republicans continue to win elections.
