WAUPUN — Downtown Waupun was blocked off and traffic redirected Friday evening to host the “Youth Market” event for young entrepreneurs.

The Youth Market event was held as part of a multi-day series put on by Discover Waupun called “Dog Days of Summer” from Wednesday, August 5 to Saturday, August 8. During this time participating businesses had extended business hours, along with sidewalk sales downtown.

The series culminated with the Youth Market on Friday from 5PM to 8PM.

“Come and shop the next generation of makers, bakers, growers, and creators at the Discover Waupun Youth Market!” Discover Waupun posted in the Facebook event listing. “Browse unique handmade items, fresh produce, baked goods, and more, all created and sold by talented local youth ages 5 to 17. It’s a fun way to encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, and community pride while finding one-of-a-kind treasures.”

Participation was open to youth from ages 5 to 17 (with responsible adult supervision).

The Youth Market included stalls selling baked goods, homemade crafts, 3D prints, and more. One booth had a small petting zoo with rabbits, lizards, and a snake, along with bouncy castles from the Waupun Recreation Department, a brat fry, popcorn, and concessions by Discover in the Food Truck Alley, and live music from an acoustic band.

The market was followed by a movie night showing of the 2025 Lilo & Stitch live action film, which started at 8:45PM.
