Mayor’s Column March 28, 2026
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun,

It’s Spring Break week for the Waupun School District! Baseball’s opening day was Thursday, golf courses are opening back up, the birds are chirping in the mornings, and the forecast looks perfect for coming down with Spring Fever!

With it being Spring Break here in town, you’ll likely see kids playing outside, riding bikes, and enjoying our parks. Our city DPW crew has been setting up the baseball and softball fields in anticipation for the beginning of the seasons; now that they’re done hauling away massive amounts of snow.

I’d like to wish good luck to our high school baseball team, as they head out to Florida to compete this week, and to the high school band, who will be in New York to perform, sightsee and take in some culture. Safe travels to all of you, and I hope the TSA lines aren’t too bad! And a thank you to all the TSA employees who are doing a thankless job, with no pay, because a bunch of blow hard politicians would rather be talking on TV instead of actually running the government.

Here in Wisconsin, the Spring non-partisan elections are coming up quickly! Election day is April 7, and early in-person voting started last Tuesday and runs through 5pm on Friday of this week. If you’d like to vote early, just stop at the clerk’s office during normal business hours. Remember to have your ID with you.

This week is Holy Week, and Good Friday is a city holiday. However, because of early voting, Waupun City Hall will BE OPEN all day on Good Friday to allow for voting. This is a situation where the state statute trumps the city holiday. So, if you do vote on Friday, be extra nice to our folks who are working on the Good Friday holiday.

Thank you and God Bless,

Mayor Rohn
