Mayor’s Column November 21, 2025
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun,

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I am reminded about what I am thankful for. I’m thankful to be mayor, to live in such a great little city, for Jenny and girls, awesome friends, good schools, and to those who serve our country to keep us all free.

I am also thankful for our Public Works team who have been busy with fall yard waste cleanup. With the warm October and lack of bad weather, the leaves have really held out, and fall yard waste cleanup has been extended, twice. The crew has been busy sucking up the leaves, and cleaning up waste, so they’re a little behind on other projects. They do so much for Waupun, and it’s easy for us to take it for granted how much our public works team does for us.

This past Monday was a no school day for the Waupun School District and events for the kids were planned at the new Community Center. I stopped in at about 1PM and the building was packed! Kids were watching a movie in the REACH area; Rachel had a full gym of kids, and the Werner-Harmsen room was full of seniors. It is wonderful to see how much the new building is being used and how this community really came together to see it through to completion. Speaking of the new Community Center, the new sign went up out on Beaver Dam St.

Waupun Utilities and Public Works put up the city Christmas Tree at the downtown gathering space. Thank you to Dan and Roxanne McGurk for donating this year’s community Christmas Tree and thank you to Elieso Torres and Torres Tree Service for donating your time to remove and transport the tree. The tree lighting ceremony will take place at the conclusion of the Christmas Parade on December 5.

Waupun Utilities put the Christmas angels up this week, too. Hard to believe we’re just a month away from Christmas Day. Thanks to the WU team for helping Waupun celebrate the Christmas spirit.

Tuesday at 1PM will be my monthly listening/update session at the new Community Center. If you’re able, I hope to see you there and answer your questions.

Finally, I hope you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. We’re truly blessed to live in a great country and Wisconsin’s greatest little city!

Thank you and God Bless,
Mayor Rohn
