Waupun Holiday Help Program
November 6, 2025

Want To Make Someone’s Christmas Brighter?

The Waupun Holiday Help Program is trying to accomplish that objective this Christmas and you can be a big help in the effort. There are many families who have children enrolled in the Waupun Area School District who are struggling financially. It is our purpose to be of service to these families especially this year when economic times are tough.

Families who find they can use a little help can apply for assistance from our program. Individuals, businesses and civic groups/clubs can help by making monetary contributions or by adopting a family.

When a parent(s) applies for help, they complete an application giving contact information, financial need, and a list of all of the members of their household including names, gender, and ages. They also include a wish list of items that the children (age 16 and younger) living in the household would like to receive for Christmas. The list includes toy ideas as well as possible clothing items. Once the families have been approved for the program, they become eligible for adoption.

When a family is adopted, the donor is asked to spend approximately $50 for gifts requested for each child. The size of the family that would be adopted is determined by how much money the donor has available to spend. For example, a person might be able to support three children ($150). That person would then be matched with a family that has three children. The donor would then receive an email from Holiday Help giving them a copy of the gift list as well as instructions for packaging the gifts and the date that gifts are due. It is also possible to adopt more than one family. It should be noted that all names remain confidential. Only the first name of the child is made known to the donor and the family is not informed of the donor’s name.

Monetary donations that are received are used to purchase a coupon for a ham and a coupon for groceries from the Waupun Piggly Wiggly for each family. The dollar amount for the grocery coupon is determined by how much money we have received through donations. For example, funds collected may allow us to give $20 per household member; i.e. five family members would receive a food coupon for $100.

If you are interested in making a donation, checks can be made out to Holiday Help and mailed to Holiday Help, PO Box 151, Waupun, WI 53963. If you are interested in adopting a family, please contact Jessica Buchholz at the National Exchange Bank (920-324-5551) or contact us via email to waupunholidayhelp@gmail.com.

The Waupun Holiday Help Program is made possible through the kindness and generosity of the Waupun and Fox Lake communities. Your help in making this program a success would be greatly appreciated.
