Mayor’s Column July 12, 2025
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun!

The only thing hotter than the weather lately is the Milwaukee Brewers and here in Waupun it feels like the summer is flying by.

Around town we’ve had a couple of unfortunate situations. First, we had a break in a burglary at the aquatic center. Only a few small food and drink items were taken, and changes have been made to increase security. Second, we had some vandalism take place at the baseball complex and the high school track area. In both cases, Waupun Police is investigating, and I believe they’re close to holding people accountable for their actions.

This past week I received the first of two flood studies that we had commissioned following the June 2024 flooding. This first one is about the Edgewood Drive area on the northwest side of Waupun. The study is interesting and will be reviewed at the Board of Public Works meeting in August. The study does offer possible solutions, however, they aren’t cheap, and while it will likely fall on the city to mitigate the flooding issues, it’s important to note that they’re not being caused by the city.

July is National Parks and Recreation month, and here in Waupun the Summer Parks Program is in full swing. Yesterday, I had fun visiting “Art in the Park” at Harris Mill Park and doing art projects with the kids who were there, and I joined in and made a button. That, along with the library’s Summer Reading Program, Waupun offers a lot for our kids to do during the summer. One of the best parts of this job is doing fun things with the kids!

Thank you,
Mayor Rohn
