WAUPUN — Alderwoman Kambria Ledesma rescinded her resignation from the Waupun City Council at the Special Common Council meeting Tuesday, January 28, 2025.
Ledesma had submitted her resignation after her family knew that they would be moving to Plymouth earlier this month. She had already announced that she would not be running for her position in the upcoming April election, and did not submit candidacy papers which were due in early January.
During the meeting she said she would be able to serve out her term through the end of March, but submitted her resignation early to be proactive with the information she had at the time. She pointed out that her family has not moved yet or even put their current house on the market, and that they would probably remain here until then.
The Council agreed that she could serve out her term with an excused absence from the last meeting in early April, if necessary.
Mayor Bishop also asked her to attend the reorganizational meeting following the election on April 15 so she could be presented with a commemorative plaque for serving on the Council.
Ledesma has represented Aldermanic District 3 in the City of Waupun since November 2023, having been appointed to fill the seat left by William Langford after his own resignation in September 2023.
No action was taken regarding Ledesma’s resignation or the would-be vacant District 3 seat at the meeting.
The spring election will be held April 1, 2025. Up for election are: District 1, incumbent Jason Westphal, District 3, open, and District 5, incumbent Dan Siebers. As of the January 7 deadline, only one individual had declared candidacy for the open District 3 seat—Ryan Mielke, who will run unopposed on the ballot.
District 3 covers all of Wards 5 and 6, which includes downtown Waupun on the Dodge County side.
