WAUPUN — State Assemblyman Mark Born (R-Beaver Dam) held a final week fundraiser event Monday evening at The Legion Bar in Waupun before the election next week.

The event was attended by Mayor of Waupun Rohn Bishop, State Assemblyman Jerry O’Conner (R-Fond du Lac), Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney, and former Governor of Wisconsin Tommy Thompson.

“We had a great event in Waupun with Gov. Thompson and Mayor Rohn,” Mark Born said in a statement to WPN following the event. “It was nice to meet some new constituents and I really appreciated all the support.”

Born, who previously represented the 39th District which covered most of Dodge County, will now represent the new 37th District, which covers the cities of Beaver Dam, Fox Lake, Mayville, Oakfield, and Waupun, and the townships of Chester, Trenton, Waupun, and others.

“It’s good Mark’s putting in a lot of time getting to know Waupun and the issues that are unique to us,” said Mayor of Waupun Rohn Bishop. “It was cool for him to hold an event here, and it was an honor to welcome Governor Tommy Thompson back to Waupun.”

Mark Born faces Democrat challenger LaToya Bates in the general election.

The election will be held Tuesday, November 5. Residents of the City of Waupun will vote at the new Waupun Community Center at 520 McKinley St.
