KENOSHA — Waupun Mayor Rohn Bishop joined a host of other participants on Wednesday, August 2nd, in Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce’s Annual Scholarship Charter Fishing Outing on the waters of Lake Michigan. The event was a unique blend of networking, adventure, and raising money for college scholarships for local area high school seniors. Despite the rough lake conditions that day, Bishop was not deterred and proved his angling skills, managing to net a nice coho salmon, a catch that added to the excitement of the day.

The Executive Director of the Kenosha Area Chamber of Commerce, Dave Strash, acknowledged the diverse representation at the event, stating, “We had representation from numerous members of the Chamber and we were lucky enough to even have Waupun Mayor Rohn Bishop fish with us!”

Reflecting on his experience, Mayor Bishop said, “I had a great time visiting Kenosha, and participating in their Chamber fishing event. I learned a lot about Kenosha, and Kenosha’s history on my tour, and I really enjoyed sharing my love of Waupun and Waupun’s history with my colleagues from Kenosha.” Bishop’s participation in the event was facilitated by Dan Schlicht from Platinum Systems, a Kenosha-based managed technology support provider who invited him as their guest, Dan is an employee of Platinum for over 22 years, and is Waupun’s newest resident. Bishop added, “Both our cities have a lot going on, and hopefully we can work together to promote each other.” The event proved not only a thrilling fishing expedition but also a splendid opportunity for fostering camaraderie and conversations among local business and political leaders.
