Mayor’s Column January 24, 2026
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun
What a week we’ve had weather wise. Daily snowfalls, subzero temps, and bone chilling windchills. Thank you to Waupun DPW for all the overnight snow cleanup and for all your work in these cold temps. Also, to Waupun PD, especially the officers overnight who are out while it’s some 18 degrees below zero.
On Wednesday, City Administrator Kathy Schlieve and I attended a legislative day in Madison for the Wisconsin Economic Development Association. We attended meetings where we learned more about legislation pending in Madison regarding Tax Incremental Financing Districts, housing, and child care business credits. After our meetings we had a good discussion with Representative Mark Born about how all this legislation can positively affect Waupun, and fortunately for us he’s supportive of all of it. We also caught up with other legislators while we were there, promote all the good things happening here in Waupun, and even got to sit in and watch the senate debate and vote on a couple of bills.
Around Waupun, as you know we’re preparing for the alley reconstruction project, and on Tuesday the council will consider changing the parking downtown from 2 to 4 hours. We’ll looking at new fencing along HWY 151 and Shaler Drive, and updating some police equipment and work continues on the effort to make Waupun a Main Street City.
Finally this Tuesday at 1pm will be my monthly listening session at the Waupun Community Center. I hope to see you there!
With that stay safe and stay warm.
God Bless,
Mayor Rohn
