Waupun Mayor Announces Re-election Effort

Bishop says he wants to keep Waupun’s momentum going

WAUPUN — Mayor Rohn Bishop announced he will be seeking a third term as Waupun Mayor. This next term will be the first with the new three year term length for Mayor of Waupun, an initiative of Mayor Bishop’s to modernize the office.

“Over the past four years, we’ve made a lot of progress, Waupun has a lot of momentum, and I’d like to keep that momentum going for the next three years,” Mayor Bishop said, adding “in the last four years, Waupun has opened a new community center, replaced the floor at the ice arena, invested into the local daycare, installed new baseball turf, created a grant program for youth sports, invested into saving the Carnegie Library building that houses the Historical Society, celebrated the centennial of the Recording Angel, hired a better garbage company, and replaced several of the railroad crossings. We’ve improved morale internally and now have a fully staffed police department, fire department, and public works team! We’re moving forward with completion of Shaler Drive and several more projects in the southeast corner of Waupun.”

Mayor Bishop has been a tireless advocate for his city, saying, “On a personal level, I have used the office of Mayor to be Waupun’s biggest cheerleader, and lobbyist. In doing so, we’ve brought two significant increases in state shared revenue, and probably saved the Waupun Prison from closure. We’ve also embraced our history by reclaiming the ‘City of Sculpture’ branding and building off the legacy of Clarence Shaler, as we not only celebrate his gifts to Waupun, but we are now adding to that collection,’ the mayor said. We now fly our city flag at city properties; as we preserve our past, and prepare for our future!”

Mayor Rohn Bishop’s campaign committee will be hosting a re-election kickoff party on Saturday, December 6 at 10AM at the new Prison City Pub located in downtown Waupun.
