WAUPUN — The annual Waupun Christmas Parade went through downtown Friday night, December 6.
The parade started at 6:30PM and went until about 7:05PM.
Included in the parade were the Waupun American Legion and VFW, City Staff, City Council, Mayor, National Exchange Bank, Waupun Fire and Rescue, Just For Kix, WHS Dance Team, the Junior/Senior High Band, Knights of Columbus with Mr and Mrs Klaus, Waupun Utilities, SAGES, Waupun Icefest, Waupun Equipment, Prairie Ridge Assisted Living Center with the “Prairie Ridge Express” dressed up like a train with a whistle, Congressman Glenn Grothman, SSM Health, Waupun Hockey Association, FVS Bank, Scout Pack 3714, Waupun Hoospters, Waupun Youth Wrestling, Waupun Drift Jumpers, Waupun Business Alliance and Envision Greater Fond du Lac, and Country Roads ATV/UTV Club.
Following the parade Jud-sons offered free bowling for the night, and kids could visit Santa Claus in the large room.
Also before and after the parade, the Waupun Heritage Museum hosted their second annual Waupun Cookbook Christmas event. There they shared recipes from a number of historical cookbooks published by locals in the first half of the 20th century.
“Our volunteers look through old Waupun cookbooks dating back to 1905 and whip up some tasty, savory, sweet (and sometimes odd) recipes for you to sample!” the Facebook event post said. “Get warm in Waupun’s historic Carnegie Library before or after the downtown holiday parade. We’re just one block south on Madison Street! The public is welcome and a freewill donation is greatly encouraged and appreciated. We hope to see you there!”
The Historical Society event went from 5PM to 8PM.
This week Thursday, December 12, My Property Shoppe will be holding their annual trolley rides which will start at the new Waupun Community Center at 520 McKinley St. Trolleys will ride around town visiting the participating houses in the Christmas Light Contest from 5PM to 8PM. Craft vendors and Santa will also be at the Community Center that night.
