WAUPUN — The United States Postal Service swore in Waupun’s 10th Postmaster in a small ceremony Saturday afternoon.

Josie Greer, who has been serving as Waupun’s acting postmaster since May, was officially sworn in on the front steps of the Waupun Post Office in front of a crowd of family, friends, and coworkers.

Greer was promoted to acting postmaster on May 18, but being officially sworn in was put off until now due to scheduling conflicts. Greer was first hired by the USPS in West Bend five years ago, and was hired as a supervisor at the Waupun Post Office a year and a half ago before being promoted earlier this year after the previous postmaster retired.

“This has been one of the most challenging yet rewarding acts of my life, and I am very grateful to have this opportunity,” Greer said at the ceremony.

She thanked her family, friends, and coworkers for their support in getting herself to where she is.

“I have a great team here in Waupun and am excited to be here for years to come,” she concluded.

The ceremony was performed by Matt Khein, who is the Post Office Operations Manager of Area G, which covers the 539, 538, and 546 areas of Wisconsin. In Wisconsin there are a total of 9,094 employees on the delivery side at the USPS, with 308 of those being postmasters.

Josie Greer is the tenth postmaster to officially serve in Waupun since the construction of the Waupun Post Office in 1937.
