WAUPUN — Plans for the new Kwik Trip facility were submitted to the Waupun Plan Commission last month.

The Commission reviewed the proposal at the August 21 meeting, which included details on the property layout, planned construction, and new signage.

The proposed plan would require the former Subway building and former Marshland Mobil gas station to be demolished and replaced with a state of the art Kwik Trip facility on the combined property.

The City Council approved combining the two lots at their meeting on August 27.

Kwik Trip had purchased the former Marshland Mobil several years ago, turning it into a Stop-N-Go station. More recently, they purchased the former Subway building when the sandwich shop closed down last May.

The former Subway building was completely demolished last week on August 27 and 28.

Once completed, the new facility will house a full service Kwik Trip and a built-in car wash. The gas pumps will also be moved to the south side of the building, replacing the location of the former Subway. The car wash will be attached on the north side of the new building.

No official date has been released on when construction of the new facility will begin.

Concept art for the proposed facility is on display at the mayor’s office.
