Mayor’s Column May 18, 2024
Rohn Bishop, Mayor of Waupun

Hello Waupun,

We’re closing Main Street on short notice!  The City of Waupun will be completing road repairs (patching) on E. Main St. between S. Watertown St. and Pluim Dr. This work is scheduled to begin Monday, May 20, 2024 and will be completed on Friday, May 24, 2024.  (Weather permitting) I know it’s short notice, but it just worked out with the contractor so we’re doing it now.  You’ll still be able to access Guth’s for your morning coffee fix. In fact, tell Katie I said hi and your coffee might be free!  Might! LOL

Memorial Day is coming up quickly, and on Memorial Day morning is the Memorial Day parade, followed by the ceremony at Shaler Park. Yours truly has a speech ready to go, so I hope to see you at both the parade and the ceremony. The parade kicks off at 9am.

This week is National Public Works Week, a week when we thank the hard work of our public works crew… even my guy, Chuck Stobb. Ha!  In all seriousness, Waupun is blessed to have such a good group of guys working for us.

It’s also National EMS week. In 1974 President Gerald Ford authorized EMS Week to celebrate EMS practitioners and the important work they do in our communities. Waupun is fortunate to have an awesome crew of volunteer EMS/EMR’s within our fire department. I thank them all for the hard work they do!

Our DPW crew includes: Jeff Danne, Todd Harmsen, Nate Schlieve, Allen Ehits, Dan Ferch, Alex Schaver, Alex Schlieve, Mike Rens, Chuck Stobb, Nate Hopp, Jackson Stobb, Eric TerBeest, Mike Schelter.

Our EMR crew is Bobbie Vossekuil, Brielle Aylesworth, Andrea Fenrich, Rebecca Geelan, Beth Leinhard, Suann Mitchell-Metz, Drew Novak, Tom O’Neill, Lance Thomas, Kelley VanBuren, Jeffrey Vree, and Teresa Wildman.

Thank you and God Bless,

Mayor Rohn
